Why don't VHS cassettes exist anymore?

Technological advancement

The VHS cassette was replaced by more modern, more convenient and higher quality technologies. The combination of better media formats, reduced demand and lack of hardware meant that VHS cassettes are hardly used anymore. However, there is a small and growing nostalgia scene that deals with VHS collectibles and retro devices.
