Goldmine Grading Standard

The condition ratings for vinyl and cover art are based on the internationally recognized "Goldmine Grading Standard" for records and are applied to all used records we offer. The vast majority of our records are at least VG+ (Very Good Plus) in condition. In exceptional cases, individual records may be graded F (Fair).

Sealed (M/S)

Sealed means the record is brand new and still shrink-wrapped.

Mint (M)

New item. Never played, never used. The cover has no cut-outs and is normally still in its shrink wrap, which has already been opened.

Near Mint (NM or M-)

A record in Near Mint condition is almost perfect. There are no signs of wear or only very slight ones. The cover may have minor wear from shipping. The record may have a few light hairline scratches (scuffs) that do not affect playback in any way.

Very Good Plus (VG+)

Items in VG+ condition show slight signs of wear, indicating that the record has been played. The vinyl may have minor surface scratches (hairline scratches, light scratches, scuffs) or fingerprints, but these do not affect playback. Artwork covers may also show minor wear, such as slight scuffing on the edges or small cut-outs. Labels may have stickers or residue from stickers applied.

Very Good (VG)

The Very Good condition is similar to Very Good Plus, however, the aforementioned signs of wear are more pronounced. Background noise during playback may be more noticeable in quiet passages, but it does not drown out the music. The record labels may have stickers or writing on them. The cover also shows signs of wear and may be taped or slightly torn at the edge. Items in this condition are generally not offered in our shop, except for rare or valuable records.

Good (G), Good Plus (G+)

The record shows clear signs of wear, but is still playable and generally does not skip. However, noticeable background noise may be present, and scratches may be audible. The cover also shows significant wear; it may be glued or torn at the edges. Additionally, damage such as stains, writing, or water damage is possible. Items in this condition are not normally offered in our shop – unless they are particularly rare or valuable records.

Poor (P), Fair (F)

The record is in very poor condition. The vinyl may have deep to very deep scratches or even warps, and the record is prone to skipping. The cover is also in very poor condition. Items of this quality are not usually offered in our shop – unless they are particularly rare or valuable records.
