Dr. Adrian Helmsley, part of a worldwide geophysical team studying the effects of radiation from unprecedented solar storms on Earth, learns that the Earth's core is heating up. He warns U.S. President Thomas Wilson that the Earth's crust is becoming unstable and that without adequate preparations to save a portion of the world's population, the entire ethnic group is doomed. Meanwhile, writer Jackson Curtis stumbles upon the same information. While world leaders race to build "arks" to escape the impending catastrophe, Curtis struggles to find a way to save his family. Meanwhile, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes of unprecedented magnitude are wreaking havoc across the globe.
