Derek Vineyard is released on parole after serving three years for the murder of two African American men. Through his brother Danny Vineyard's narration, we learn that before his incarceration, Derek was a skinhead and the leader of a violent, racist gang that committed racially motivated crimes throughout Los Angeles, and that his actions deeply influenced Danny. Following his rehabilitation and release from prison, Derek cuts ties with the gang and is determined to prevent Danny from following in his footsteps and committing the same violent path.
