Buddy Amaral, a successful and self-absorbed advertising executive from Los Angeles, swaps his plane tickets with a stranger just before boarding a severely delayed flight, hoping to spend a night with a beautiful businesswoman from Dallas. When the plane crashes and all passengers are killed, Buddy's guilt quickly turns into a drinking problem. As part of his 12-step program, Buddy seeks redemption and decides to track down the woman he believes to be his widow.
