Sir Robert Beaumont is behind schedule with the construction of a railway line in Africa. He hires the renowned engineer John Henry Patterson to get the project on track and expects a successful outcome. Everything seems to be going well until the crew discovers the mutilated body of the project's foreman, apparently killed by a lion. After several more attacks, Patterson calls upon the famous hunter Charles Remington for help, who finally meets his match in the bloodthirsty lion.
