Mark Sway, a young man with street experience, witnesses the suicide of Jerome Clifford, a prominent Louisiana lawyer whose current client is Barry "The Blade" Muldano, a mob hitman. Before shooting himself, Jerome tells Mark the location of a senator's buried body. Clifford kills himself, and Mark is found at the scene. Both the FBI and the mob quickly realize that Mark likely knows more than he's letting on.
