Professor Phillip Brainard, an absent-minded professor, is working with his assistant Weebo to develop a substance that will provide a new energy source and save Medfield College, whose president is his lover Sara. He has already missed his wedding twice, and on the afternoon of his third wedding, Professor Brainard invents Flubber, a substance that allows objects to fly through the air.
