Six months after the events of The Matrix, Neo has proven to be a good omen for the free, as more and more people are being freed from the Matrix and brought to Zion, the Resistance's sole stronghold. Neo himself has discovered his superpowers, including superspeed, the ability to see the codes of things within the Matrix, and a certain degree of precognition. But unpleasant news hits the human resistance: 250,000 machine sentinels are digging their way to Zion and would reach it in 72 hours. As Zion prepares for the ultimate war, Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity receive advice from the Oracle to find the Keymaker, who would help them reach the Source. Meanwhile, Neo's recurring dreams depicting Trinity's death are troubling him. And as if that weren't enough, Agent Smith has somehow escaped erasure, become more powerful than before, and identified Neo as his next target.
