Far northern Queensland, 1955. Deep in the untamed wilderness, the tough rancher Lance Dillon and his sensual but bored wife struggle against the harsh environment to make a living with their cattle herd. When Aboriginal people kill the Dillons' prize-winning bull, a chase ensues, culminating in a bloody tragedy where Lance confronts Mandaru – an Aboriginal man fighting to preserve his cultural way of life.
