They call it Radio on DVD

In 1976, in the segregated city of Anderson, South Carolina, football coach Harold Jones discovers a mentally disabled African American teenager nicknamed Radio near his training field and decides to befriend him. Radio soon becomes Jones's loyal assistant and attends T.L. Hanna High School. However, the situation deteriorates when Coach Jones faces criticism from parents and fans who believe his devotion to Radio is preventing the team from winning the championship.
