After learning that a boy their age has been accidentally killed near their rural hometown, four boys decide to examine the body. Gordie, Vern, Chris, and Teddy encounter a nasty junkyard owner and a swamp full of leeches, but they also learn more about each other and their very different family lives. What begins as a bit of fun turns into a life-changing experience.
