After paleoclimatologist Jack Hall's environmental concerns about the onset of a new ice age are largely ignored by UN officials, his research is confirmed when a superstorm develops, triggering devastating natural disasters worldwide. Jack and his crew try to reach his son Sam, who is stranded in New York City with his girlfriend Laura and others. They must set out to reach Sam before it's too late.
