Although she can tell wild stories of passionate romances, writer Joan Wilder has no life of her own. But one day, she receives a mysterious package. As it turns out, the package contains the ransom she needs to free her kidnapped sister, so Joan flies to South America to deliver it. But she boards the wrong bus and ends up hopelessly stranded in the jungle.
