In 17th-century Italy, a monastic order captures and imprisons a demon that had possessed one of its members. Four hundred years later, teacher Elizabeth Magrino visits the monastery to conduct research. What she and the monks of today don't know is that the evil lurking in the catacombs has been unwittingly unleashed.
