A man living in rural Wisconsin cares for his bedridden, domineering mother, who teaches him that all women are evil. After her death, he misses her and, a year later, exhumes her and takes her home. He learns the art of taxidermy and begins scavenging graves for materials to repair them, inevitably seeking fresher sources of material. Loosely based on the true story of Ed Gein.
