Toward the end of the Vietnam War, the United States was running out of drivers for its supply chain, so it had to recruit a new group of recruits and train them to survive the dangers of war-torn Vietnam. The recruits were briefly trained by an American officer, but were then quickly handed over to their South Vietnamese officers and forced to venture into the dangers of Vietnam without the necessary protection from the Americans, who were more concerned with retreating their own troops than with protecting the South Vietnamese.
