Bernie Laplante is going through a rough patch. He's divorced, his ex-wife hates him and has custody of their son, the police are setting a trap for him, and to top it all off, he loses a shoe while rescuing the passengers of a crashed jet. A thief down on his luck, Bernie takes advantage of the crash, but then someone else claims the credit for the rescue.
