Mike (Jean-Paul Belmondo) is a stuntman who works with his girlfriend Jane (Raquel Welch). On their wedding day, Mike and Jane are forced by the producers to perform a stunt for a film they're working on. Annoyed, Mike isn't paying attention to the road and crashes their car, landing them in the hospital. After they recover, Jane refuses to speak to Mike, so he decides to get her a job in a film where he acts as a stunt double for his stunt double, who, despite being a star in action movies, is actually a wimp.
