A remake of Vávra's 1948 thriller Krakatit, set in the atomic age. Engineer Prokop develops the destructive explosive "Krakatit" and soon finds himself confronted by manipulative agents and imperialist conspiracies. Realizing the danger of his invention, he fights against its misuse, risking everything to stop those who would exploit his groundbreaking discovery.
