Giff Hoyt, a café owner in Cabo Blanco, Peru, finds himself caught between fleeing Nazis and their enemies after World War II. After the murder of a marine researcher is dismissed as an accident by the corrupt local police, Giff becomes suspicious. The police chief also intimidates the newly arrived Marie, and Giff steps in to help her. Giff suspects Beckdorff, a Nazi refugee living in the area. Beckdorff, it turns out, is trying to unearth sunken treasure.
